Advice to Students: Pack a Mac

BusinessWeek recommends Mac as the best combinations of features, ease of use and value.
I would have expected the article to focus on the Mac’s ability to run Windows faster than high-end DELL computers and with more safety features such as a included target disk, dynamic partitioning, necessary drivers CD and all of the benefits of using the free BootCamp utility to install Windows on your Mac. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that were better reason to buy a Mac beside having a better Windows machine.
The new Windows compatible Macs are actually drawing the most attention for their ability run Mac OS X and the cool Mac apps bundled with it. In contrast, the credible and well respected publication points out that Windows seems stuck in a rut. They also point out that when Windows Vista is finally competed next year, after five years of development, it may not do much more than play catch up with OS X.
The does mention that new Intel-based Mac hardware has erased the performance gap with other computers such as HP and DELL.
The article goes on to advise users to avoid the cheapest system if you want a laptop or desktop that will serve until the last tuition payment is made.

I do appreciate the different approach this article takes from the “Big Laptops On Campus” article we can expect to see in a few days from now (August 14, 2006) that basically says:

WINDOWS SAVVY
These days, Apples (AAPL ) are equally affordable, and they now use Intel's Core Duo chips, just like HP and Dell models. That means that they can boot up Windows XP and run applications designed for PCs, which eliminates the main argument against choosing an Apple.

In a few days take a peak at the August 14th article at:
