The past weekend was the last stop (at least I’m told it’s the last stop) in the iC SuperCOMPUTERS 2006 Public Photobooth Show. Yesterday (Sunday) was our last day of the fairs, which ended at Lynden Park Mall in Brantford, Ontario.
Today, I’m back on the job fielding request for insanely cool photos people took of themselves. Tonight, I’m posting the top photos from the first stop, The Paris Fair in Paris, Ontario.
The iC PhotoBooth tour was the first of it’s kind. It was a combination of the old Fun House and the photobooth in the Mall. So it was appropriate that official public tour started at the Fair and ended at the Mall. At the iC Booth I noticed some of the same excitement I had as a kid in the Fun House.
It is also appropriate that Tour concludes on the weekend before Halloween, which approaching fast. Some of the participants actually took photos specifically for Halloween. The idea being that they will be sent to friends on Halloween day and used as their MSN buddy picture. Others played Guitar or Keyboards at our booth and took the PhotoBooth pictures for use as their CD album cover art. There were certainly a lot of creative people who quickly figured out how to make the best of the situation. I have a feeling that unofficially, Halloween at the iC Log Cabin will be the last leg of the tour, as many people said they would be coming to the log cabin in their costumes to transform themselves into a very cool Halloween photo.
Normally, it would cost $4.00 for strip of 4 thumbnail sized photos at a typical photobooth, but the iC PhotoBooth offered free large size images that were dressed up with insanely wild PhotoBooth Effects that transform people into twisted bodies, warped individuals, double-headed people, animated characters, comic book superheros, pencil art, pop art, beams of light, headless people, floating genies, human spiders, X-Ray scans, old-time photos, thermal vision and more.
These cool iC PhotoBooth images were offered free of charge to anyone who came up to the booth to talk to Rauly, Erin, Micheal, Andrew, Chelsey, Ryan, Kaela or me.
We’ve already received email thanking us for some really great memories. There were people at each of the fairs who told us that our booth was the most exciting thing they’ve seen. Some even hollered to their friends that they had never seen anything this cool in their life - this after spending time dancing in front of the built-in Cam as they experimented live with various PhotoBooth effects.
What was really cool for all of us who worked the events, was seeing all of the joy, excitement, amazement and laughter at the booth. This was really contagious. And, there was also some shock and awe that occurred as some people, intent on passing by, turned their head for a moment and got an eyeful.
So tonight I’m pleased to announce the 37 pictures of the 2006 PhotoBooth Tour. (Picture no. 38 was disqualified from the selection process).

What is also cool about these photos is that the best ones have been chosen by the participants themselves. We received tons of photos each night. Normally, it would have taken us months to go through the old process of chosen the best ones.
Technically, the Simcoe Aud was the sight of the first Public PhotoBooth sight. But, the photos from that event are listed under Education because officially, it was the Haldimand-Norfolk Career Fair Event. Even though it was open to the public, we considered that as an educational event. That was followed by some really cool photos for the Brant County Career Fair at the Civic Auditorium and the High School Career Day event held at Mohawk College. Again, these photos are also filed under Education.
Therefore, The Paris Fair 2006 is considered to be the first official public photobooth event.
Yesterday, the last batch of photos went out to those who have requested copies during the tour. For those of you who didn’t receive your copy of the photos you’ve requested during the event as of this morning, you can follow the links back to the photo you requested.
