PC Magazine: Editors’ Choice

Not only has Mac received high acclaim in numerous reviews in PC Magazine, it’s also the editors’ choice.
“The 24-inch iMac also runs Boot Camp Beta, just like other Intel-based Macs. Windows on the iMac is as snappy as I expected, with initial numbers that are pretty good. The iMac provides a much better gaming platform with Win XP, since Doom 3 for Windows runs natively on the Intel platform. With Boot Camp, the iMac turned in a stellar 127 fps at 1,024-by-768 on Doom 3...”
“If you need a high-powered all-in-one PC or replacement desktop, look no further than the new 24-inch Apple iMac. With Boot Camp, it will run Windows XP (and, we hope, Vista in the future), and as I expected, it's a powerhouse running Mac OS X.”

...And, yes, I did say “editors’ choice, not editor’s choice”, which implies more than one editor.

Finally, keep in mind that his is a predominantly PC based magazine. As such, you may notice oddities, whether intentional or accidental, that often misrepresents. For example, Apple was the first computer manufacturer to offer a LCD screen as a standard feature. Apple was the first to eliminate CRT displays from their line. Apple was the first offer widescreen displays. After the introduction of the iMac G4 back in February 2002, every iMac to date is only available with an LCD screen. All current Apple laptops are only available as LCD Widescreens. The very first iMac 17” was an LCD Widescreen. All iMac 20” computers, from the iMac G4 20” PowerPC, to the iMac G5 PowerPC to the iMac 20” Intel Core Duo to the current iMac 20” Intel Core 2 Duo have been available only with a LCD Widescreeen.
Yet, in the tradition of most PC Users who review Mac products, there’s always something missing or misleading or misstated in their reviews.
Now that LCD Widescreen are finally available in the non-Apple PC world, the comparison chart mysteriously list the Sony VAIO 20” as an LCD Widescreen, but failed to list the Apple iMac Intel Core Duo 20” as an LCD Widescreen.
Let me iterate this point once again:
ALL IMAC 20 COMPUTER HAVE LCD WIDESCREEN! Come on, guys!
THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN RELEASED WITH ANYTHING BUT LCD WIDESCREENS. IMAC 20” WIDESCREEN COMPUTERS HAVE PRECEDED ALL OTHER PCs THAT NOW OFFER LCD WIDESCREENs. So why fail to mention that in your comparison chart? It may falsely lead people to think that Apple didn’t lead the pack.
