Learning to speak digital can make some people’s head spin. Perhaps this is why many flock to the iC SuperCOMPUTERS booth year after year.
Kaela (Director Accelerated Computer Solutions) and Dave (President of the Mac User’s group) have been doing their part to make it easier for people of all ages and walks of life at this year’s Springarama in Simcoe, Ontario..
Presenting live demonstrations and responding to inquires in addition to playing music and having fun have been one of the big attractions to the booth.
The other stars at the iC booth were the new iMac Intel Core Duo and the new MacBook Pro 15” widescreen notebook with 2Ghz Intel Core Duo processor (which was playing HD movies). It was a change for some people to see these new products in the flesh and for the first time.
The real stars of the show were kids, adults and seniors who had fun taking (and distorting) their own photos with the new PhotoBooth application or grabbing a musical instrument (M-Audio MIDI keyboard or the Vintage accoustic/electric guitar) and performing their favourite songs on the new GarageBand from iLife 06.
I throughly enjoyed checking out the other booths from the many vendors that were also present at Springarama. Many were regulars, some were new, but all were good and worth the venture to The Aud in Simcoe. (If you gotta check out Robin’s Owl or the Oprah video at Ron’s HiGenitech Booth, while you’re kids check out the Police Car go cart).
Because of the weather, I took the alternate C route from Simcoe (See CONTACTS page) back from the show to the store. From the intersection of Hwy 3 and Hwy 24, it was about 22K to the halfway point, the Boston General Store in Boston (Cockshutt Rd. No. 5 at Norfolk City Line Rd. No. 19). As you probably already guessed, I didn’t see the Berkley School of Music. Then, a right at Hartford onto the Townsend Rd No. 74 and a quick left on Concession Road No. 17 - which becomes Chiefswood Road at Little Buffalo. I took this all the way - over the Grand River bridge to Hwy 54. A left on Hwy 54 (West) and another 1/2 kilometer and I was back in the saddle again.
I don’t yet know if I’m more psyched about being live at Springarama tomorrow or watching the Oscars on TV on Monday. (Although, it would be cool to be live at the Oscars or watching Springarama on TV).
Oops! Oscars are tonight!
